Passed peacefully away as quietly as she lived, on Tuesday, January 24, 2012, Harriett Rose Codner, of Torbay, one day after celebrating her 91st birthday. Predeceased by spouse Albert Codner in 1999; parents: George and Mabel Saunders of Glovertown; grandson Christopher; brothers: Jim, Edgar, John, Manuel and Gladstone; sister: Phyllis Verge. Left with the most wonderful memories are her children: Geraldine Ethel Labrie (Andre), Gerald (Marion), Beverly Minor (Kevin), Myra Spurrell (Rick), Don (Diane), Lindsay (Lillian) and Manuel (Arlene); 17 grandchildren who were proud to call her Nanny: Scott, Sandi, Courtney, Tina, Tammy, Jana, Adam, Mark, Renee, Adam, Nathan, Wendy, Eugene, Andrew, Leah, Erinne, and Julia Rose; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Anne Saunders and Carol Saunders; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, friends, and staff at North Pond Manor. Cremation has taken place. The family will be receiving visitors at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave. on Thursday, January 26, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., and on Friday, January 27, from 10 a.m.-12 noon. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, January 27, 2012, at Barrett’s Funeral Chapel. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
