Audrey Purcell
Passed in: Upper Tantallon, Nova Scotia, Canada
Audrey Anne Rose Purcell, 9, of Upper Tantallon passed away suddenly at the IWK Hospital. Audrey’s little heart gave out before we were ready to say goodbye.
It was Audrey’s nature to always put other people before herself, and therefore, it was an easy decision to donate her organs and give the gift of life. At the time of her death Audrey was in the arms of family and all those who loved her so dearly.
Audrey was born in Halifax. She was the daughter of Anthony and Colleen (Morrison) Purcell. Audrey will be remembered for her big beautiful brown eyes and a smile that could brighten any room. She was a very loving child who always had a kind and gentle spirit.
Audrey loved curling and took part in the Little Rocks program at CFB Halifax. She had been chosen to be a sign representative for the Provincial Scotties Tournament of Hearts but unfortunately did not have the chance to participate in something she was so looking forward to. Audrey loved going fishing with her dad, playing outside with her brothers and friends and entertaining her mom with spontaneous song and dance routines. Audrey also loved having snuggle time with her cat Gingersnap. Audrey attended Tantallon Elementary School where she was a member of the school choir and gymnastics club.
Audrey is survived by her brothers, Alex (13) and Owen (11); grandparents, Ross and Helen Morrison, Sydney; Edwin and Barbara (Cross) Purcell, Portuguese Cove; great-grandmothers, Annie Morrison, Hornes Road; Rose MacDougall, Sydney; uncles, David (Sarah) Morrison, Kenneth Morrison, Edwin (Christine) Purcell, Jeff Purcell, Kendall (Kristi) Whynot, Wallace Whynot; aunts, Sherri, Amanda (Zahf), Tanya (John), Shantelle (Alex) and Nicole; cousins, Alexa and Patrick Purcell, Cameron and Brandon Purcell, Annie, Violet and Luke Morrison.
Visitation will take place at Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Hwy. 333, Peggy’s Cove Road on Sunday, Jan. 29 from 4-7 p.m. A celebration of Audrey’s life will take place at St. Luke’s United Church, 5374 St. Margaret’s Bay Rd., Upper Tantallon on Monday, Jan. 30 at 2 p.m.
Thank you so much to the doctors and nurses at the P.I.C.U. at the IWK Hospital for the loving care shown to Audrey and her family.
Memorial donations may be made to the IWK Foundation.
