The death occurred peacefully at the Kings County Memorial Hospital in Montague on Saturday, January 28, 2012, of Samuel Leonard Smith of Sturgeon, in his 89th year.
Beloved husband of the late Melvina Bridget Smith (nee Jamieson) and dear father of Shirley (Joe) Lannigan, Judy (Roy) MacMillian and Sam (Debi). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Lennie, Darlene, Charlene, Joey, Philip, Everett, Jullie, Laura, Sam, Jeff, Mellisa and 15 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, also by his brother Howard Smith and sister Rosalie Bonnell, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Samuel and Sarah (Walsh) Smith; brothers, Hersey, Alvin and Jack; and sisters, Alfretta Atkinson, Inez Plester and Roeanna Brennan.
Resting at Ferguson’s Montague Funeral Home until Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., then to St. Paul’s Church, Sturgeon, for funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment later in the St. Paul’s Parish Cemetery. Visitation: Monday 7-9 p.m. only.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Riverview Manor Activity Fund or to St. Paul’s Church would be appreciated.
