Sartison: Layia Leontina "Tina" Sartison, age 96, of Swift Current, Sk. passed away January 23, 2012 at the Palliser Regional Care Centre, Swift Current, Sk. The funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m., Monday January 30, 2012 from the Eastside Church of God with Pastor Kevin Snyder officiating. The organist was Darlene Busse. Pianist was Grace Herbal. The Ushers were Leonard Schwartz and Faye Rister. The life tribute was presented by Troy Sartison, Charlotte Montgomery and Jodi Sartison. The pallbearers were Reg Bader, Mike Montgomery, Troy Sartison, Ben Ryan, Wendell Klassen, Bill Blake, Mike Crone and Cliff Stevenson. The interment service took place at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Sk. Tina was born on September 30, 1915 to Frederick and Lizzie Heid (nee; Schwartz), in the Krammer District, now known as the Scottsburgh District. She attended school in the area and grew up on the farm. Tina was married to George Sartison in Flowing Wells, Sk on August 18, 1934. Together they farmed in the Neidpath District until their retirement in 1971. The couple then moved to Calgary where they worked as housekeeper and groundskeeper for a wealthy family on an acreage out side of the city. Following this George and Tina started working for the C.N.I.B., Tina worked as kitchen helper and George tending the grounds. Tina enjoyed knitting, crocheting, baking, sewing for her family and in later years, reading and floor curling. She loved seeing the expressions on the kids faces when they came home, excited about the home baked bread and strudels. Tina is survived by her daughter Vonnie Bader; son Harold Sartison and friend Vi Janz; sister Irene Lincoln; sister-in-law Violet Hahn and Annie Sartison; grandchildren; Reg (Charlotte) Bader, Charlotte (Mike) Montgomery, Kim (Ben) Ryan, Delayne Sartison, Mike Crone, Troy (Lori) Sartison, Lana (Wendell) Klassen, Tina (Bill) Blake, Jodi Sartison, and Tasha (Cliff) Stevenson; 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband George Sartison; son Ken Sartison; son-in-law Melvin Bader; five sisters; seven brothers-in-law; and nine sisters-in-law. She will be sadly missed by all of her family. Tina will also be fondly missed by Irene Sartison, Fran Cope and Alfreda Sartison. In her memory, memorial donations may be made to the C.N.I.B.
