It is with deep sadness that we, the family, announce the peaceful passing of Patrick Joseph Fahey on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Sydney Mines, he was the son of the late Patrick and Muriel (Jessome) Fahey.
Pat leaves behind his beloved daughter, Tracy; his son, Sean and daughter-in-law, Yvonne Fahey. He will be sadly missed by his two precious granddaughters, Ashlyn and Leah Fahey. Also surviving are his sisters, Ella, Laura, Frances, Rita (Alan) Found and Ann (Michael) Ley; his brothers, Lewis (Maureen) and Gerard; his sisters-in-law, Ketha, Sarah Ann and Joanne Fahey, Marilyn (Ed) Connor, Rene (Tom) Smith and his brothers-in-law, Bernard (Carolyn) Bates and Willis (Dorothy) Bates and countless nieces and nephews, who adored him as much as he adored them.
He was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife, Minnie (Bates), his sister, Alice (Ernie) Butts, his brothers, Billy, Lennie, Michael and Lewis Steven and his brothers-in-law, Michael Chaisson, Reid Tait and Andre Mayeu.
Patrick was Irish to his soul, very proud of his heritage. He was a 30-year veteran of the Armed Forces (Navy) and was forever proud of his Cape Breton roots. His greatest joy was time spent with friends and family at his cottage on the Margaree River.
There will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. J.J. MacDonald officiating. A reception will follow at the parish hall.
Arrangements are under the care of Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines.
Donations may be made to C.B. Palliative Care, any local food bank or a charity of choice.

Patrick will be forever remembered for his kindness and generosity to family, friends, neighbours and strangers alike.
