Gladys Eileen Schop, age 83, of Prince Albert, SK passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2012. Private family interment of cremated remains will be held on Saturday, February 4 prior to the funeral service in the Garden of the Last Supper, Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. All who loved Gladys will assemble at St. David’s Anglican Church, 500 – 24 Street East, at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4 to celebrate her life. Reverend Norbert Haukenfrers will officiate. A lunch and time of fellowship will follow in the church’s basement. Gladys is survived by her loving family: her husband Herb; her daughters Debbie LaHaye (Greg) and Cathy McLean (Ron); her daughter-in-law Sandra Schop; her grandchildren Keith LaHaye (Jamie), Jennifer LaHaye (Billy), Randy LaHaye (Candice), Andrew Bissky, Becky and Steven McLean, Michelle and Adrian Schop, Inicko Martin; her great-grandchildren Jeremy LaHaye and I.J. Martin. She was predeceased by her son David Schop; her parents Florence and Samuel Parkinson; her brothers Sidney and Richard; her sisters Florie, Mabel and Ivy. Gladys was born in Prince Albert on August 21, 1928 and attended Queen Mary School and PACI. She worked as credit manager for several retail stores in Prince Albert where she continued to reside. In 1949 Herb Schop swept her off her feet and into his arms and they wed in November of 1949. Gladys was an active member of the St. David’s Anglican Church being in the choir and a volunteer at Mont St. Joseph Nursing Home both for over 20 years. She chose to become a full time mother and homemaker which was her passion, after the arrival of their first child David, soon followed by Debbie and Cathy. She also took excellent care of her parents in their old age. Her husband, family and her beloved grandchildren meant everything to her. Her achievements were measured by the love and closeness of her family. They enjoyed time at their cottage at Neis Beach, Emma Lake, Little Red River Park and various trips to Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Calgary and BC to visit family.
