GILLESPIE, DOROTHY A., RN - It is with great sadness the family of Dorothy Ann Gillespie announces her death, after a heroic battle with cancer. Dorothy left us at the Palliative Care Unit in the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton, NB on January 30, 2012. Dorothy was born on August 22, 1945 in Blissfield, NB. She was the daughter of (late Charles) Gillespie and Ruth (Sullivan) Gillespie. She is survived by her son Michael Sturgeon and his father Royden Sturgeon, Sussex, NB, her mother Ruth, one sister Helen Bishop, Oromocto, NB, one brother Ernest Gillespie and his wife Mary, Enfield, NS, and numerous nieces ,nephews and cousins. Dorothy was predeceased by her father Charles Gillespie and two infant sisters Charlena Grace and Margaret Rose. In 1968 Dorothy graduated from the Miramichi Hospital, Registered Nursing Program in Newcastle, NB. The next 40 years were spent caring for others in various hospitals and nursing homes in New Brunswick. In 1970 she spent two years nursing in Haiti, la Gonaue, with the Wesleyan Methodists Mission Organization. Dorothy enjoyed being with family, especially her son Michael and her many friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation and a celebration of her life will be held at the Blissfield Wesleyan Church, Blissfied, NB, on Friday, February 3, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. On Saturday, February 4th, Pastor David Sullivan and Rev. J.A. Treese will officiate at her celebration of life.
