STOREY, JANE - (b. April 26, 1978 d. January 25, 2012) - It is with great sadness we announce that Jane Elisabeth Storey, 33 passed away January 25th, 2012 in Vancouver, B.C.Born in Halifax, NS., and a graduate of Moncton High School, Jane obtained her Bachelor of Science in Health Education (highest GPA) Dalhousie University, a Bachelor of Science Degree of Applied Human Nutrition (with distinction) Mount St. Vincent University, and a Masters of Applied Nutrition, Guelph University. In life, Jane was seamful. She had the courage and generosity to show her seams to us, and she invited us to share and love our own. With her sparkly eyes, radiant smile, and undiluted honesty Jane Elisabeth Storey was instantly disarming and breathtakingly genuine. She was a master friendship-builder and loving wife, sister, daughter, grand-daughter, aunt and cousin. She had an abiding faith that the world was mutable. Through her example, those around her became more affectionate, demonstrative and compassionate. She combined a keen sense of justice, with a fierce belief in goodness, and an abiding love of beauty in all its forms - in music, in colour, in food, in people, and in the natural world. A tender soul, Jane felt things deeply. Jane lived with Generalized Anxiety Disorder – an illness that is really just a misunderstanding between different parts of her body. To manage this misunderstanding, she worked so hard to shower and surround her wounded self with love and care. Occasionally, though, the anxiety and depression would take over and she experienced longer seasons of darkness. She struggled through one such season these past several months and we are tremendously heartbroken that this time she died from her illness. Jane took her life on the afternoon of Wednesday, January 25, 2012.
She leaves behind and is desperately missed by her husband, Andrew Curran, parents John and Elisabeth Storey of Moncton, NB, brother David (Lori) of Falmouth, NS., and sister Karen (Rich) Hoshino, Japan, nieces Lara and Genevieve Storey, grandparents Don and Peg Storey of Shediac, NB, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. Memorial services celebrating her life will be held in Vancouver on February 3rd, 2012 at 1:30 pm at Mountain View Celebration Hall; in Shediac, NB on Thursday, February 9th, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Trinity United Church; and in Halifax, NS on February 11th, 2012 in the evening.
