Sarah Jane Whitford

Sarah Jane (Hingley) Whitford, 45, Malagash and formerly of East River St. Marys and Truro, passed away February 2, 2012 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro.
Born in New Glasgow, she was the daughter of Janet (Russell) Hingley and the late Henry A. Hingley.
Sarah was an employee of Mike’s Foodland in Tatamagouche and previously worked at Charman’s Home Hardware in Wallace and Walkers in Truro. She loved to do hand crafts and attend fairs, yard sales and spending time at the lake. She was a cancer survivor for 16 years until recently recurring.
She is survived by her husband, Derrick; daughter, Emily, at home; brother, Henry (Georgie), Fox River; sisters, Susan MacGillivray (Billy), Thorburn; Bonnie Mullin (Todd), Tatamagouche; father and mother-in-law, James “Jim” and Violet Whitford, Malagash; brothers-in-law, Jamie Whitford (Janet) and Allen Whitford (Donna); sister-in-law, Janice Matheson (Steven); several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by brother, Angus and twin brothers at birth, David and Douglas.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, February 5, in Coulter’s Funeral Home, Tatamagouche. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, February 6, in St. Matthews Presbyterian Church, Wallace with Rev. Mary Anne Grant officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Miners Cemetery, Wallace.
Family flowers only by request. Memorial donations can be made through the funeral home to an education trust that will be set up for Emily.
