Cameron Patterson

PATTERSON, CAMERON CHUDLEIGH - 1930 - 2012 - Moncton - Cameron Patterson died suddenly at The Moncton City Hospital on February 3, 2012. Born in Gaspe, Quebec, he was the son of late Cameron and Lavern (Tait) Patterson. For 58 years he was the beloved husband of Sylvia Patterson (Cunning) by whom he is survived. He is remembered lovingly by his two sons, Chris (Bee Leng) of Malaysia, Bruce (Denise) of Vancouver and his daughter Deana Gadd (Peter) of Miramichi; his brother, Elwyn (Anne) of Brighton, On; his two sisters, Evelyn Robar of Gaspe, Judy Patterson of Brockville, On; his six grandchildren, Kathleen, Frederick Gadd, Nigel, Andrew, Grace and Matthew Patterson; his three sisters-in-law, Joan Dennison of Moncton, Sandra (Levi Noel) of Belledune, Darleen (Jacques Diotte) of Montreal, Qc and his brother-in-law, Art Cunning (Pat) of Elk lake, On. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Maxine Miller. Cameron joined the RCAF in 1953 and rose through the ranks, retiring from the armed forces as Captain Patterson in 1980. After a number of years in Gananoque, Ontario, he and Sylvia fully retired to Moncton in 1993 to be nearer to family. During his years in Moncton Cameron was an active member in his church and community and enjoyed golf, cross country skiing, nature trails. He was a member of the Moncton Naturalist’s Club. Also during this time Cameron and Sylvia travelled to Asia via Vancouver to see family on several occasions as well as visiting the Caribbean. Every summer saw them spending several weeks at Sylvia’s mother’s home in Sandy Beach, Gaspe.
The funeral service will be held at St. James Anglican Church, 101 Fairview Drive in Moncton, on Tuesday, February 7 at 2:00 pm, Father Roderick Black officiating. Internment will take place in York, Gaspe, Quebec in the summer. Reception will follow.
