Frederick Percy Tobin

Tobin, Frederick Percy, 71, of Bass River, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2012 in the Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Shelburne, he was a son of the late Stephen and Georgina (Atkins) Tobin. Fred retired as a fisherman and later moved to Bass River in 1993, from P.E.I. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and four-wheeling. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He is survived by his wife Donna; son Raymond Frederick of Bass River; daughters Verna Darlene (Peter) and Sherry Lynn (Carter), both of Summerside P.E.I.; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son Wayne Douglas; sister Vanetta.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 1pm until funeral service time at 2 pm in the Riverside United Church, Bass River. Rev. Florence Antle-Brison will officiate with burial to take place at a later date. No flowers by family request. Donations in Fred’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Nova Scotia Lung Association, or a charity of choice.
