Olson- Theodore Marshall "Ted"; It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, brother in law, and friend. Ted was born September 9, 1936 in Turtleford Saskatchewan to Ruth and Bill Olson, a brother for John. A few years later the family moved to a ranch North of Antelope. Ted married Kathleen Johnston on November 7, 1958 in Gull Lake Saskatchewan at the Knox United Church. Ted will be forever remembered by the love of his life Kathleen, he was a proud father to his three children his daughter Melanie (Frank) Colby, son James (Brenda) Olson, Gregg (Dawn) Olson. He was a very proud grandfather to Tyler (Valerie) Payne, Chance Payne, Evan Colby, Brynn Colby, Adam Bradley, Jeff Olson, Madison Olson, Shawna Olson, Kayla Olson and great granddaughter Veronica Lynn Payne. Ted is also survived by his brother John Olson, brothers-in-law Russell (Cecile) Johnston, Ray (Margie) Johnston, Larry (Sandra) McLavish, sister-in-law Sharlene Johnston, and many cousins, nieces and nephews and a special Aunt Jean Lloyd. The celebration of life was held at the Knox United Church in Gull Lake on January 31, 2012 with lay pastoral minister Marie Barr officiating, the organist Sharon Dahl, pianist Clara Butler and the United church choir. The service began with youngest granddaughter Madison lighting the candle, oldest granddaughter Shawna reading a poem, and granddaughters Brynn and Kayla each reading scriptures. A wonderful tribute was presented to his grandfather by his oldest grandson Tyler Payne followed by family friend Cam Lock. Ushers were Lance Allan and Dan Mc Phee. Lunch followed the service at the Elks Hall served by the United church ladies. Ted worked on the oil rigs for many years and then was employed with the department of highways until retirement. He made many good friends while employed with highways. Ted enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his family and friends. He would visit with anyone anywhere, always had a story to tell, was known for his one liners, and maintained that "wherever you go...you are only a stranger if you want to be". For the last eleven years as a couple Ted and Kathleen enjoyed wintering in Yuma Arizona. Ted was predeceased by his Mother and Father, Ruth and Bill Olson, mother and father-in-law Mae and Bill McLavish, sister-in-law Joyce Olson, and brother-in-law Leslie Johnston. Interment of the ashes will be held at a later date at Antelope St. John's Cemetery.
