Frank Swift

SWIFT, FRANK - Frank Swift died peacefully at home on February 6, surrounded by his wife Nancy and daughters Megan, Laura and Jessica. Frank was born in Oxford, England in 1944 and immigrated to Canada in 1969, where he entered career service as an economist with the provincial and federal governments, serving over the years as Director of the Economic Development Division and Deputy Minister and President of the Regional Development Corporation. He retired in 1999. Frank enjoyed a secondary career as leading family humorist, meteorologist, large event planner, mentor to two sons-in-law (Jay Leopkey and Kevin Christie) and barbeque chef. Frank was the head of a large and loving family that included a sister, Jennie Swift, and five grandchildren - Malcolm, Ella, Bella, Jacob and Lola. The family would like to thank Dr. Ann Collins of Fredericton for her continuing care and attention to Frank and Nancy; Dr. James Mowatt for his skill and dedication; Dr. Debra Gowan for her palliative care; and the palliative care and extra-mural nurses for their kind attention.
A memorial gathering will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home, 160 York Street, Fredericton on Thursday February 9 from 7 to 9 pm. A private church service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frank’s name to the Dr. Everett Chalmer’s Hospital or the Fredericton SPCA. www.mcadamsfh.com
