SMITH, STEPHEN MARK - It is with great sadness that the family of Stephen Mark Smith announces his accidental death in Central Asia on Thursday, February 2, at the age of 29. Stephen was an overseas humanitarian volunteer with World Hope and a member of the Moncton Wesleyan Church, where he was involved in the choir, young adult and youth ministries. Stephen was a passionate follower of Jesus who lived out his faith in a tangible way – unselfishly serving others with love and compassion. He will be lovingly missed by his mother Ruth Smith (David McCurdy), father Kevin Smith (Debbie Kearns), of Moncton, older brother Philip Smith (Melanie) and their children Isaac, Andrew, Sarah and Leah of Anagance, twin brother Adam Smith (Michelle) and their children Leeland and Nolan of Saint John, step-sister Chelsea Belliveau (Marc) of Moncton, step-brothers Jeff McCurdy (Lee Anne) of Riverview and Rob McCurdy of Squamish B.C. and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The funeral service will take place on Monday, February 13th at 6:30 p.m. at the Moncton Wesleyan Church, 945 St. George Blvd. Interment will take place at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date. Donations in Stephen’s memory may be made to the Moncton Wesleyan Church missions fund or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
