Ryan, Deborah Lorraine “McCallum” “Debbie” – 57, Bible Hill, passed away suddenly at home on February 4, 2012. Born in Truro she was the daughter of the late William and Reta (Fitzgerald) McCallum. Debbie worked many years as a crossing guard in Bible Hill. She and Frank gave attention to Daniel, a special young man in their neighbourhood. She loved her “scratch” tickets and playing Bingo. Her grandchildren were her life. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who gave freely of her time to all who needed her. She is survived by her husband Francis “Frank”; daughter, Robyn (Greg) Green-Withrow, Salmon River; stepdaughter Connie (Steve) Lumsden; stepson, Michael Russell, all of Salmon River; sisters, Sherry McCallum, Donna (Jimmy) Whidden, Bonnie (Mike) MacSwain, Lena McCallum, Judy Wood; brothers, Stephen (Valerie), Tom (Sue), Wink, Pooker (Joanne), Robbie (Grace); grandchildren, Brittany Lake, Madison and Mirandya Cavanaugh; many nieces and nephews; special family friend , Daniel Petersen; pets, Lucy and Daisey. She was predeceased by sisters, Doreen and Margaret; niece, Wanda. No visitation by request. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 11 a.m. in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Rev. Fred Whittier officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Colchester SPCA or the Colchester Community Workshops, 168 Arthur St., Truro, B2N 1Y3.
