STEVENSON, LLOYD GILBERT - Lloyd Gilbert Stevenson of Swan Creek, New Brunswick died suddenly in Digby, Nova Scotia on Saturday, February 4th, 2012 at the age of 89. He was born on December 31st, 1922 in Lawrencetown, Nova Scotia, the son of the Late Hazel (Conrad) Stevenson and Joseph MacLane Stevenson. Lloyd was a soldier with the R.C.E.M.E. from 1943 until his retirement in 1973, serving overseas during WWII. Following his retirement from the forces he served for a short time at UNB with security. He was a member of the R.C.E.M.E. Association, The Royal Canadian Legion, the Lions Club and Crime Stoppers. His greatest passion was playing crib, which he did every time the opportunity arose. In addition to his parents and his wife of 66 years, Daisy (2009), Lloyd was predeceased by his brother, Robert; sisters, Lucy and June; and daughter, Dianne. He leaves to mourn his son, Richard (Patricia) of Riverview, NB; son in law, Robert Frigon of BC; sisters, Janet and Phyllis; grandsons, Troy (Lara) Frigon of Oromocto, NB and Darren Stevenson of Oakville, ON; granddaughters, Dainna (Tim) Datchko of Toronto, ON, Stacey (Corey) O’Handley of Toronto, ON and Krista (Garth) Gallant of Moncton, NB; as well as three great grandsons; three great granddaughters and three step-great grandsons.
Visitation will be held at Oromocto Funeral Home, 108 Winnebago St., on Friday, February 10th, 2012 from 6 to 8 pm. A memorial service will be held from the funeral home chapel on Saturday, February 11th at 2 pm with Rev. Bob McDowell officiating. Interment of ashes will be in Fairview Cemetery, Lawrencetown, NS, in the spring. For those who wish, donations in Lloyd’s memory made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, Crime Stoppers or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
