McFATE, ROLAND - It is with great sadness the family of Roland “Rolly” Walter McFate, loving husband of Elaine (Marsh) McFate announces his passing, which occurred unexpectedly, on Tuesday February 7, 2012 at his home. Born 1940 in Saint John he was the son of the late Murray McFate and Florence (Paisley) (McFate) Farris. Roland worked as an Electrician for IBW Local 502 for many years. He was a former Volunteer Fire Chief for Bradley Lake Fire Department and was passionate about his volunteer work as the Chairman of Bradley Lake Community Centre. He enjoyed watching NASCAR on Sundays and spending time with his family. Besides his devoted wife Elaine of 48 years, he is survived by his loving daughters Donna Folkins (Randy) and Sharon McFate; cherished grandchildren Brittany (Joe), Charlie (Laura), Bradley and Gordie; brothers R. Holly McFate (Georgina) and Cyril McFate (Jacqueline); feline companion Crazy Eyes; several nieces and nephews and many friends. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his step father Herbert Farris and his canine pal Buddy.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Thursday, February 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday, February 10 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place in St. Paul’s United Church Cemetery in the spring.
