BREWER, VIOLET ALICE - Violet A. (Jones) Brewer of Prince William, NB passed away February 7, 2012 peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family. Born in 1922 at Prince William, NB, she was the daughter of the late William and Alice (Hood) Jones and the loving wife of the late Murray T. Brewer. Besides her parents and husband, Violet was predeceased by a sister, Bertha Jones and a brother, Hazen Jones. Violet graduated from Saint John Regional Hospital as a registered nurse in 1944. She worked in several hospitals including Saint John General, Harvey Hospital, Victoria Public Hospital and the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. She was an active member in her community until her death. Violet was a member of the Riverside United Church in which she held many positions over the years. She was a member of the Riverside UCW and secretary of the Prince William 50 Plus Club. Violet enjoyed quilting for many years and quilted with her Dumfries/Prince William friends. She was a card player extraordinaire and she also enjoyed vegetable gardening and volunteering at Kings Landing Historical Settlement. She is survived by her five children, Joan Brewer (John Rowinski), Fredericton, NB, Margaret Trainor, Moncton, NB, Ann Brewer, Prince William, NB, Leonard Brewer (Barb), Southampton, NB and Brent Brewer (Carol), Riceville, NB; a brother, Ernest Jones (Marjorie), Fredericton, NB; sisters, Velma Stairs and Florence Bartlett, both of Fredericton, NB; sisters-in-law, Beulah Jones, Connecticut, USA, Mary Hood, Magaguadavic, NB and Doris Piercy, Harvey, NB; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
At Violet’s request, there will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 10, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Riverside United Church, 6682 Route 102, Prince William, NB with Rev. Jennifer Brown officiating. A reception will follow at the Prince William 50 Plus Club Hall.
For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Violet, the family has suggested Violet’s favourite charities, the Riverside United Church or the Prince William 50 Plus Club.
