DUNPHY, MALCOLM ‘MAC’ ANDREW - The death of Malcolm ‘Mac’ Andrew Dunphy of Fredericton occurred on February 7th, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born June 20th, 1934 in Saint John, NB, he was the son of the late V. J. and Sarah (Johnson) Dunphy and husband to Barbara (Anderson) Dunphy. Mac is survived by his wife, Barbara and several nieces and nephews who he always enjoyed spending time with. Mac graduated from Saint John High School in 1953 before attending and graduating in 1959 from UNB with his degree in Mechanical Engineering. Mac then worked with Brunswick Engineering for two years before being employed with NB Power in 1962. He was involved with every major power plant project undertaken by NB Power, including Point Lepreau Nuclear Plant, for the span of his career. He was appointed to the position of Chief of Mechanical Engineers in early 1970s to his retirement in 1995. Mac instilled in his staff a dedication for excellence in their engineering duties. He also enjoyed his many building projects, playing bridge, bowling and working around his home, cottage and gardens.
A visitation and reception will take place at McAdam’s Funeral Home on Friday, February 10th, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A private interment will be at the Kirkhill Cemetery in Sussex at a later date.
