LORNE CHELSBERG

Passed on: February 7th, 2012

Lorne Leonard Chelsberg passed away peacefully at Providence Place on February 7, 2012, with his wife Ida by his side, at the age of 77. Lorne was born and raised in the Parkbeg district, where he and Ida farmed until retiring to Moose Jaw in 1989. There he continued with many odd jobs, but none he enjoyed so dearly as working at the Par 3 Golf Course. Lorne was an avid “handyman” and helped many friends and family with tasks – a real Jack-of-all-trades. He enjoyed camping and fishing in the summers with Ida and extended family – always the Captain of the boat to all. Lorne’s children and grandchildren were his pride and joy – with the latest addition – his great-grandson Beckett – being the apple of his eye. He loved his “little man” deeply. Lorne moved to Providence Place in 2009, due to Alzheimers, and resided there until his passing. Lorne is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ida; his sons Jeffrey, and Dean (Laurel); daughter Jo-Anne (Kelvin); grandchildren Brodie (Brittany), Bryce (Melissa), Brock, Brett, Trista, Tyson, Travis (Courtney), and Shayla; great-grandson Beckett; sister Jeanette (Bernie) Brandon; and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel on Friday February 10, 2012 at 1:30 pm. Pastor Bill Cantelon will officiate. Interment will take place at Sunset Cemetery. A Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday evening from 7 – 9 pm. For those so wishing, donations to the Alzheimer Association, #301 – 2550 12th Ave., Regina, S4P 3X1, or the Parkinson Society of Sask., Box 21010, Gardiner Park RPO, Regina, S4V 1J4, would be appreciated. In living memory of Lorne, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home. Please sign the memorial register at website: www.wjjonesandson.com (Obituaries).
