Passed peacefully away on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, Samuel Cooper at his residence in River of Ponds at the age of 85 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his common-law partner Pearl; children Janet (Alex), Kitchener, Ontario, Junior (Kim), Irishtown, and Maria (Peter), Georgetown, Ontario, extended family Viola (Frank), River of Ponds, Verna (Nish), Port Saunders, Linda (Darrel), Saskatchewan, and Jeanie (Jon), Gander; grandchildren John, Jason, Ashley, Billy, AJ, Katie, Nicholas, Tyson, Mason, Daley and Jacob; sisters Martha and Marion; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents William and Tryphenia Cooper, sister Janet and brother Richard. The family received friends at St. Peter’s Anglican Church in River of Ponds on Thursday and Friday from where the funeral service took place on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Paulette Bugden officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port aux Choix.
