Georgena Townsend, 93, of Halifax, formerly of Louisbourg, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, in Maplestone Enhanced Care.
Born in Louisbourg, she was a daughter of the late Donald John and Gladys MacIntyre.
Surviving are brother, Donald (Gladys) MacIntyre, Ontario and sister, Bernice MacLean, Albert Bridge. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Kathleen MacIntyre, Louisbourg, Christina MacIntyre, Glace Bay and Isabel (Phil) Bagnell, Sydney; niece, Gina Michelle and great-niece, Naomi, as well as many other nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her best friend, Peggy (Vernon) Toole.
She was predeceased by her husband, Francis Leonard Townsend; sister, Florence and brothers, Charles, Vernon, Alvin and Truman; special brother-in-law, Calvin MacLean.
She was an active member of Edgewood United Church and a member of their choir for many years.
She spent the past six years in Victoria Hall and her family is grateful for the kindness and care she received from all of the staff, in particular Pam Francis.
Cremation has taken place, service and burial will be held at a later date.
