DEASE, Olive Muriel – 88, of Arcadia, Yarmouth Co., passed away on February 7, 2012 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born July 28, 1923 in Springhaven, she was a daughter of the late Bernard and Ada Mae (White) Trefry. Olive was a member of the Arcadia Baptist Church, where she was also very active in the community. She was an honorary Deacon of New Heights Baptist Church, where she also served on the pulpit committee. She was a past president and member of the Ladies Auxiliary in Arcadia, a life member of the Women’s Institute, member of Rebekah Lodge, member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a life member of Yarmouth Exhibition, where she also participated as an exhibitor. During her younger years, Olive was a Housemother at the Yarmouth School of Nursing. Aside from her memberships and community involvement, Olive’s long time hobbies were gardening, cooking and baking. In her later years, she enjoyed companionship from family dog, Georgie. She is survived by daughters, Linda (James) Mullen, Clementsvale; Raylene (Stewart) Rogers, Quispamsis, N.B.; brother, Malcolm Trefry, Springhaven; grandchildren, John (Kim) Rogers, Trevor (Dawn) Rogers, Shawna (David) Harrison, Corey (Amanda) Rogers, Aurilie Donaldson (Adam Churchill), Chad (Tina) Doucette and Alicia (Matthew) Moses. She was predeceased by husband, Raymond Dease; son, Brian Dease. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation took place Wednesday, February 8 from 7-9 p.m., in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service was held Thursday, February 9 at 2 p.m. from New Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Craig Minard officiating. Interment followed in Arcadia Cemetery. Donations in Olive’s memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or to Canadian Cancer Society.
