MOWERY, BRUCE - Surrounded by his loving family and closest friends, Bruce Douglas Mowery passed away on Saturday, February 11th after a brief, but incredibly courageous, battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Sara (Lester), cherished father to Jennifer and Adam (Sabrina Jacques), and Papa to Nicholas, all of whom continued to make him proud each day. Son of the late John Vincent and Bessie Mowery, Bruce will be greatly missed by his sisters Anne Patterson, Barbara Johnson (Kenneth), and Cheryl Porter (Roger). In his adult years, Bruce had the good-fortune of becoming acquainted with half-siblings Brenda Taylor (John), Vivian Stuart (Lee), and George McIntyre. For over twenty-five years, Bruce was employed as a truck-driver with Kraft Canada, formerly Christie Brown, delivering cookies and earning him the nickname “Mr. Christie.” Always living life to its fullest, Bruce enjoying travel, hockey games at Harbour Station, as well as enthusiastically planning his next home-renovation project. Bruce especially loved spending summers at the cottage at New River Beach, entertaining family and friends; he will best be remembered flippin’ burgers on the porch, accompanied by the family dog at his feet.
Following cremation, visitations will be held from Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Wednesday, February 15th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. For those who wish, donations in memory of Bruce may be made to the Arthritis Society, Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice. www.fundyfuneralhome.com
