Eva Florence (Sissy) MacLeod, 82, of Harbourstone Enhanced Care passed away Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at An Cala Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Starr and Aggie (MacLennan) MacLeod of Whitney Pier.
She is survived by her sister Anita (Jack) MacLeod, Ingonish Beach, several nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Sheila MacLeod.
She was predeceased by her brothers Ross and Roddie and sister-in-law Kaye (MacKay).
In her younger years she taught school in Sydney, Halifax, Montreal, and Ottawa. She travelled to Australia and New Zealand whetaught.
She especially enjoyed her friendship with the Pier girls and their monthly luncheons.
At her request her remains have been forwarded to Dalhousie University for medical research.
The family would like to thank the staff of Harbourstone Enhanced Care St. Ann’s Bay and the An Cala Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Donations may be sent to Palliative Care or charity of choice.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Church Whitney Pier at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15.
