DAVENPORT, JOYCE E. - 1927-2012 - The death of Joyce Ethelwyn Davenport, of Bath, occurred on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the Riverview Manor in Bath. Born in Chatham, NB, on November 27, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Quincy and Evangeline (Allison) Campbell of Dorchester, NB and wife to Eugene Davenport. She leaves behind her husband of 62 years, Eugene J. Davenport; son, John (Jane) Davenport of Kelowna, BC; son, Robert (late Clara) Davenport of Antigonish, NS; loving daughter, Sharon (Patrick) Brennan of Fredericton, NB; 10 grandchildren, Cinnamon, Julie, Timothy, Brendan, Michael, James, Colton, Nathan, Greg, and Alyson; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Joyce is survived by a brother, John (Ruby) Campbell of PA and a sister, Lois (late Murray) Raworth of BC; sister-in-Law, Phyllis (late Arthur) McBean of Fredericton, NB and Marjorie (late Camille) Stavalone of CT. She was predeceased by a brother, Ken (Betty) Campbell, and a sister, Yvonne (John) Searle; brothers-in-Law, Leo, Eddy and Bernard Davenport; sisters-in-Law, Leola (Guy) Brown, Janet (Ellery) Turner, Donna and Bernice Davenport; and daughter-in-Law, Clara (Pickard) Davenport. Joyce graduated from Dorchester Superior School and then worked at a bank in Moncton before entering the R.N. program at Saint John General Hospital. Upon completion in 1949, she moved to Bath, NB and began nursing at the Bath Private Hospital, she later worked at the Northern Carleton Hospital until retirement in 1978. Joyce was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who enjoyed cooking, decorating and travelling around the countryside. She bravely fought her illness over the last few years while a resident in Riverview Manor.
Resting at L.R. Giberson Funeral Directors, 207 Burnham Rd. Florenceville-Bristol, where visiting was held on Monday, February 13th, from 3 to 5 pm. Funeral service will be held from the L.R. Giberson Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, February 14th, 2012 at 2:00 pm. Rev. Maynard Rector will be officiating. Interment will be held at a later date.
