Clara Evelyn Mullaly, 99, of Sydney, passed away peacefully at Seaview Manor, Monday, Feb. 13, 2012.
She was born in Poulamon, Richmond County, and spent most of her life in Halifax and Montreal working for the CPR and later CNR. She was a generous supporter of the Canadian Red Cross, the Society of St. Jude, the Salvation Army, the War Amps of Canada, the Canadian Cancer Society, the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation (cancer centre and An Cala), the QE II Foundation, St. Anne de Beaupré, Heart and Stroke Foundation, St. Augustine’s parish and many other worthy causes.
She was the beloved daughter of the late Remie and Clara Ann (Landry) Fougere. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Louis and Raymond Fougere, her sister, Mary Ellen Poirier and her husband, Tom Mullaly.
Evelyn is survived by her nephew, Louis (Marjorie) Fougere, Sydney; and nieces, Jean (Bill) Berry and Linda (Bob) Silva, both of California, Diane, Maura and Gloria, Halifax. She is also survived by many greatnieces and great-greatnieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are by T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. At her request, there is no visitation. A farewell service will be held at Parkview Chapel on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, at 7:30 p.m. with Rev. Jim Oliver officiating.
