Born In: Stockholm, Saskatchewan, Canada
Born: March 30th, 1928
Passed in: Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada
Passed on: February 10th, 2012
1928 - 2012
Joyce Bloomfield was born on March 30, 1928 and passed into the presence of her Lord and Saviour on Friday, February 10, 2012.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Homer Bloomfield and three sons Harold (Beth), Doug (Brenda) and Russell (Pat) Bloomfield; six grandchildren, Reesa, Lisa, Michael, Joy, Karla, and Nicky, and five great grandchildren, Raiden, Ashton, Owen, Abby and Henry. She also leaves behind two sisters, Iris Borisenko of Nanaimo and Doreen Lee of Kanata, Ontario.
Joyce was born on a farm in South East Saskatchewan near Stockholm. When still a small child, the family moved to Calgary, Alberta. In 1945 she met the love of her life, Homer, who was stationed in Calgary with the R.C.A.F. They were married in Calgary in 1947 after which Dad took Mom "home" to Summerland and lived there until 1951 when they decided to move to Kamloops.
Family was everything to Joyce and she was loved and respected by Homer and her sons. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly and they were very special to her. She felt her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the 'best in the world.'
Joyce was very active in her church over the years and loved to serve her Lord. One of her last comments before leaving us was that she "was ready to meet her Saviour."
She will be deeply missed by her husband, family and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the Dallas Barnhartvale Baptist Church, 495 Todd Rd., with Pastor Bruce Christensen officiating.
Homer and Joyce have been members and actively involved with Gideon's International, and Mom's desire was that donations be made in her name to the Gideons International Bible Society.
