Passed in: Canada

LORNA DARLENE CHALMERS Sept. 18, 1948 - Dec. 30, 2006 On Saturday December 30, 2006 Lorna Darlene passed away at the age of 58. Lorna lives on in the hearts and thoughts of her loving husband Ian; her only daughter Wendy (Kemper); and granddaughter Abby Lorian; mother Vivian Keen and father Lorne (Opal) Affleck of Osoyoos; brother Bill (Val) Affleck of Surrey; parents in law Bill and Isobel Chalmers of Oliver; brothers in law Duncan (Jeannie) Chalmers, Gordon Chalmers and sister in law Isobel Nemitz of Prince George. Auntie Lorna leaves behind Rod (Janice), Jamie, Sara and Kevin and great nephews Logan and Ryan and longtime friend Lynn Mortensen-Oudoire who resides in Le Thor, France. Lorna was predeceased by her sister Wendy Burns. Lorna was born on September 18 in Kamloops. She moved to Prince George and in 1967 married Ian. While in Prince George she worked at the Credit Union as office manager. They then moved to White Rock where she worked for J Pattison Neon Products. In 1975 they moved to Logan Lake and have lived in the community ever since. Most of Lorna's career has been in Municipal Government. In 1977 she started as the secretary at the District of Logan Lake. After completing many correspondence courses she received her degree in Municipal Government Administration and in 1997 she was appointed Deputy Clerk. During the last 3 years she worked as Chief Administrative Officer and took enormous pride and received great satisfaction from being able to put her years of experience and training to work for the benefit of her community. Lorna was a tireless worker and the model multi-tasker. But always, she took time to enjoy and be with her family. She loved to ski at Sun Peaks and work and relax around the garden and pond on their acreage. Spending time with her 4 year old granddaughter was her ultimate joy. No one could light up Lorna's eyes more than her little Abby. Her other great joy was playing and walking with Sandy (Best Dog) her faithful four-legged companion. He, as we all do - love her and will miss her dearly. A celebration of Lorna's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on January 8th, 2007 at the Logan Lake Senior Secondary School. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in the memory of Lorna to the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice Home, 72 Whiteshield Crescent South, Kamloops, B.C., V2E 2S9.
