McCALLUM, Clarence Irving – 76, North River, passed away peacefully, Monday, February 13, 2012, at home. Born July 30, 1935, in East Mountain, he was a son of the late Lorne and Ada (Thompson) McCallum. Clarence was a truck driver all of his life and worked for Coles Transport, Eastern Transport and Volume Tanker. An avid bowler, he enjoyed bowling on Tuesday morning Men’s League and Thursday afternoon Golden Age Senior’s League. He also enjoyed playing pool with his nephew, Wayne, reading, watching baseball and cheering on his favourite team, Toronto Blue Jays. Clarence is survived by his wife, Sharon Joyce (Lynds); children, Terry (Susan) McCallum, North River; Roger (Lorna) McCallum, Upper North River; Darren McCallum (Carol), Lawrencetown, Halifax Co.; Jason McCallum, Bible Hill; Sonya McCallum, Toronto; grandchildren, Cory, Jessica, Craig, Trent, Carlie, Cassadie; siblings, Lillian Pyke, Edie Taylor, Murray McCallum, Bible Hill; Elsie (Austin) Mortenson, Salmon River; Elmer (Ellen) McCallum, Onslow Mountain; Doris (Allen) Baird, Onslow; Shirley McCallum, Truro; David McCallum (Norma), Onslow; Bruce (Susan) McCallum, Onslow Mountain; brother-in-law, Warren Yuill, Tatamagouche; numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter in infancy; sisters, Alice McCallum, June Yuill; sisters-in-law, Erma McCallum, Elaine McCallum; brothers-in-law, George Pyke, Bert Taylor. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Clarence’s family will receive friends from 4:30-5:15 p.m., Saturday, February 18, 2012, followed by the funeral service at 5:30 p.m., The Reverend Lori Ramsey officiating. Reception will follow. Spring interment in Aenon Baptist Church Cemetery. No flowers by request. If so desired, donations in Clarence’s memory to a charity of choice are welcomed.
