Theresa (Ma) Mac Neil
The final goodbyes for Theresa (Ma) Mac Neil were held at 10am on Wednesday February 8th, 2012 at St. Theresa’s Church, Whitney Ave, under the direction of T.W. Curry’s Funeral Home. For the past 3 ½ years Ma lived at the Mac Gillivray Guest Home. Her family took great comfort knowing that Ma had a second family while she lived there. We could never personally thank each one of you without forgetting someone. Words could never express our gratitude for the extras you did; having a little dance with her, extra sauce for her potatoes, making sure she always had her cuddly blanket so she was nice and warm and so much more. Thank you Father Rankin and staff for the beautiful mass and tea held on Friday in her honor. To our family, friends and co-workers; the food, donations, mass cards, and inscriptions were unbelievable. To those who attended the wake and funeral, thank you. It really meant a lot to see you, especially all of the kids from the old neighborhood.
Thank you to Fathers Jim Oliver and Joe Ambrose Mac Neil. The service was spiritual and yet so personal. We cannot find the words to describe the music by Donnie (Campbell), as it was everything and more that Ma would have wanted. To her son-in-law Rick, the Words of Remembrance made us laugh and cry. Thank you.
Ma’s sons and two of her sons-in-law, Kevin and Bill, wanted the honor of being pallbearers and carried Ma to her final resting place in Christmas Island. Sandy Mac Neil you will never know how much it meant to us having Ma in her final resting place, thank you. Someone was watching over us, as there has never been a brighter sunnier winter day standing in the St. Bara’s Cemetery. Although they were not aware, we want to thank the railroad, just as we said our final farewell the train passed the graveyard. It was as if Dad was welcoming her home again. To MacKillop’s Flower’s, thank you Dave you always do such beautiful arrangements. We could not have gotten through this without the wonderful staff at T.W. Curry’s Funeral home. Your professionalism and dedication was beyond words.
Thank you one and all and God Bless
The Mac Neil Children
