Maude Morse
MORSE, MAUDE TITUS - Mrs. Maude T. Morse of North Head Grand Manan Island passed away at the Grand Manan Nursing Home Wednesday February 15, 2012. Born at Grand Harbour in 1913 she was the daughter of the late Austin and Maude (Titus) Cheney. Shortly after finishing school on Grand Manan Maude went to St. Stephen to train to become a nurse. With her husband Romaine they lived on White Head Island early in their marriage, then moved on to Grand Manan and owned the Shorecrest Lodge and later ran Rose Cottage. Following her career in the hotel business she worked at the Connors Bros. sardine factory until her retirement. The qualities that she will be remembered the most for are her long time faithful support of the North Head Baptist Church, beautiful award winning quilts, gentle smile, and the love she gave while raising her family. Even as it extended and grew with the marriage of her children as their families grew with grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters; Sylvia Parker of Bayside, Ruth Clowater (Larry) of North Head. Three sons; Ronald of Moncton, Raymond (Janet), Roger (Joan) both of Castalia. Thirteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and many friends. She was predeceased by her husband Romaine in 1979.
Visiting for Maude will take place at Ells Funeral Home on Saturday from 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held from the North Head Baptist Church on Sunday February 19, 2012 at 1:30 pm with Rev. Ed Shaw officiating. Following the service there will be a reception at the church and all are invited for a time of fellowship. Interment will follow at the North Head Community Cemetery.
