Hogg, Donald Robert, PO1 MA(ret)OMM, OJJM, CD1, CD2. of Glencoe, Pictou County passed away February 17, 2012 at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Braylorne, BC he was a son of the late Robert and Margaret(Moyes)Hogg.
He served 25 years in the Royal Canadian Navy and Submarines retiring in 1984. He was also a member of the Corps Commissionaires and the 1st Nova Scotia Highlanders as well as retired chief of the East River Valley Fire Department. Don was an active member of the Stellarton Lions and the Royal Canadian Legion #75 Eureka.
He is survived by his wife Margaret(Quartermain), a son David(Debbie), daughters, Mary(Rick)Jamieson, Karen(Wayne)MacDonald, grandchildren: Colin, Matthew(Jessica), Amanda(Kenneth), Emily, Nola, Sybil(Jason), Trevor, Amee, Maria, Bridget and Gary, Great-grandchildren: Mariah and Wyatt, brothers: Peter(Linda) and Thomas, a sister Catherine(Doug)Paterson of Merritt, BC.
Cremation. The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9pm Wednesday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
There will be no service or committal at this time. Burial will take place at sea at a later date.
Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Don may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of one’s choice. A special thank you to the nurses in ICU and Palliative Care of the Aberdeen Hospital as well to the paramedics that responded to the house
