MADDEN, HARRY S. - Surrounded by his loving family, Harry Sylvester Madden passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Harry was 90. Born in Smiths Creek, NB, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary Loretta (Ryan) Madden. Harry started his career at O’Dell Construction and spent 35 plus years at Mack Maritime as the office manager and bookkeeper. He also served overseas during WW II. Harry is survived by; two daughters, Susan Rowan (Burt) of Jasper, Alberta and Nancy Allen (Brian) of Newmarket, Ontario; two sons, David Madden (Nancy) of Quispamsis, N.B. and Brent Madden (Ruth) of Fredericton; five grandchildren, Jeff Madden (Heather), Robert Madden (Rachel), Mark Madden (Tara), Ryan Madden (Brittany) and Madison Allen; two great granddaughters, Hannah Madden and the new baby Madden; a brother Tom (Theresa) Madden of Sussex; nieces and nephews. Harry was recently predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years Annie B. Madden; brothers and sisters, Francis Madden, Adrian Madden, Helen Malone and Mona MacDonald.
The family will receive condolences at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 from 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, February 22 at 2:00 PM from St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church with Father Monte Peters as celebrant. Interment in Sunny Bank Cemetery at a later date. The family has designated the NB Lung Association or a charity of your choice for memorial contributions.
