LEIGHTON, JEAN - 1922 - 2012 - Jean Marion Leighton (Millar) of Moncton, passed away with family by her side at The Moncton City Hospital on February 19, 2012. Born on October 8th, 1922 she was the daughter of Thomas F. Millar and Edna G. (Cole). Jean graduated from Moncton High School and went on to work for CNR. She was a founding member of the Moncton Engineers’ Wives Association and past Ladies President of the Moncton Golf and Country Club. She was a gifted musician and brought the joy of music to countless people with her singing group of over 25-years, the Grassettes. Jeanie loved summering at the shore and will be sadly missed by her extended Pointe-dû-Chene family. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, M.F Keith Leighton and is survived by her children Ann Irving (William), Tom (Sandra Lean), Paulina Oulton (Kenneth), grandchildren Edward (Sandra Bach), Jane and Gillian Irving, great-grandchildren Colin, Keith, and Evelyn Irving, her sister-in-law Laura Leighton, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place at Fair Haven Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 22nd, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 23rd at 1:00 pm at St. George’s Anglican Church, 51 Church Street Moncton. The family would like to thank family and friends for their support and a special thank you to the staff of Unit 4600 at the Moncton City Hospital for their wonderful care and to The Reverend Chris VanBuskirk.
