HUMPHREY, DONALD CURTIS - 1930 - 2012 - It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Donald Curtis Humphrey at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont University Hospital on February 19, 2012, at the age of 82. He was predeceased by his lovely wife Nancy and his infant daughter Hope Elizabeth. Donnie is survived by his four children; Holly Humphrey (John Wigmore) Moncton, John Humphrey (Siobhan) Edmonton, Jay Humphrey (Martine Richard) Ottawa, Hilary Humphrey (Dean Lauer) Ottawa, and five grandchildren; Caroline, Harrison, Katherine, Jack, and Laurel. He is also survived by his loving sister Audrey and brother-in-law Dan Billing, as well as his dear sister-in-law Elinor Dysart. Born in Moncton, Don was the son of John W. and Romie Humphrey. A graduate of Mount Allison University's commerce program, he owned Keating's Tobacco Shop for many years. He was a member of the Greater Moncton Town Planning Commission, and the NB Provincial Assessment Appeals Board. He was also a volunteer for many community events. An avid golfer and curler, he was a President of the Beaver Curling Club and a Life Member of the Moncton Golf and Country Club. He was a Kinsman and a life member of the Elks Club. He was a President of the Nummies and spent many an enjoyable Friday night in their company. A proud member of the Progressive Conservative Party, Don was active in many campaigns yet his vote was often off-set by Nancy's.
Visitations will be held at Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home, 171 Lutz Street, Tuesday, February 21, 2012 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The funeral service will also be held at Tuttle’s on Wednesday, February 22 at 2:00 pm. In memory of Donnie, donations may be made to either of Moncton’s hospitals.
