Bernice English

Doris Bernice ‘Beanie’ English, 89, Shiretown Nursing Home, formerly of Wellington Street, Pictou.
It is with deep sadness we announce Beanie passed away suddenly February 18, 2012 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
She was born in Pictou, September 19, 1922, where she remained all her life. Beanie was the last surviving member of her immediate family, being predeceased by her parents, Clifford and Ida (Tattrie) English; her dear sister, Audrey MacKeigan; brothers: Roland, Ernest, George, and Fred English. She leaves behind her son, Jack (Cindy); grandsons, Taggart (Angie) and Tyler English, their mother, Tanya Langille; great-grandchildren, Bella and Bobby English, who she adored; cousin, Gordon (Peggy) English and nephew, Billy (Flo) MacKeigan, who were like sons, to her, and their families (she doted on Luke, and his joy in fire trucks); many nieces, nephews, and cousins; extended family, Melissa (Jason), Alexander and Adrienne Aitken; J.R., Dylan, and Jessica (Larry – she sure got a kick out of him) Porter; also dear friends, Viola and Wilda. Beanie loved her cat, Tinker, and there wasn’t a yard sale she missed! She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church, Pictou. She was the voice of Ferguson Industries (the shipyard) for many years, proud to say she was the switchboard operator. Beanie also loved to curl and belonged to the ‘Happy Hookers’, she made some beautiful rugs and many other handiworks. Beanie sure loved lobster. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was one of a kind, the end of an era. We love you Beanie.
Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral service will take place 11 a.m. Thursday from First Presbyterian Church, Pictou, with Rev. Iona MacLean officiating.
Family flowers only please. Donations in her memory may be made to Aberdeen Hospital, First Presbyterian Church, or a charity of your choice.
