Pauline Wheaton
WHEATON, PAULINE J. - Pauline J. Wheaton, 86, of Moncton, went to be her with Lord on Sunday February 19, 2012. She was the only child of the late Bill Atkinson and Florence (Card) Atkinson. Born in Woodhurst in 1925. At the age of 14, Pauline and her mother moved to Dorchester so that she could go to high school. At 17, she met and married the late Foster Wheaton. They were married for 60 years. Their first child, Roger, was born two years later, while his father was on a ship to Europe. When he returned, they were blessed with a second son, Roy, and a daughter, Sharon. In 1955 their son, Roy, drowned. Pauline travelled to Moncton every day for six months and became a licensed hairdresser. She opened her own shop in her home in Dorchester. In 1953 they moved to Moncton, as her husband Foster had taken a position with the Moncton Police Force where he worked for 32 years before retiring in 1983. They travelled most of Canada and the USA. Pauline also attended Oulton’s Business College and then worked for the Co-Op Insurance, as well as the Moncton School Board. She volunteered for years with the Red Cross. She was also a former member of the Pythian Sisters, African Violet Society and the Moncton Council of Women. She was the director for the Golden Tones Band. She also received her 20 year certificate in 2002 as an active member of the Lakeview Manor Association. She and her husband travelled to many seniors homes to entertain them with fiddle and piano. She has been a member of Parkside Baptist Church since 1955. Pauline is survived by her son Roger (Ghislaine) of St. Stephen and daughter, Sharon Blake (Bob) of Second North River, as well as five grandchildren, Julie-Anne Thomasch, Jennifer L. Wheaton, Jamie A.R. Wheaton (Tanya), Scott Worden (Julie), Bruce Worden (Debbie); great grandchildren, Mason F. Wheaton and Lauryn O. Wheaton; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Roy (1955) and her husband, Foster (2002).
Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Tuesday from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Funeral Service at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home on Wednesday February 22, 2012 at 1:30 pm, Pastor Matthew Porter officiating. Refreshments in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. Interment, Dorchester Rural Cemetery. No flowers by personal request.
