JOHNSTON, BESSIE AMELIA - The passing of Bessie Amelia Johnston, widow of the late Frank Cecil Johnston occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Monday, February 20, 2012. Born at Parker’s Ridge, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Bessie (Spencer) Calhoun. Bessie was a homemaker all her life and was devoted to her family. She was a member of Wilmot United Church. Bessie enjoyed company immensely and so looked forward going to Wheels to Meals and spending time with her friends at Elm Tree Square Dancing. She always looked forward to meeting up with friends at Grace Memorial Baptist Church Seniors Group and the First Wesleyan Church Seniors Group. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Bessie leaves behind her daughter Marie (David) Price of Fredericton and her son Wayne (Sheila) Johnston of Fredericton; five grandchildren, Jeffrey (Debbie) Price of Saint John, Christopher (Tammy) Price of O’Leary, P.E.I., Lisa (Courtney) Moore of Manchester, N.H., Brenda Johnston of Fredericton and Michael Johnston (Tammy) of Fredericton; nine great grandchildren, Travis and Troy Price, Brittany Dean, Courtney Price, Trent Moore, Courtney and Juliana Blackmore, Logan and Hayley Johnston; a sister Noreen Munn of Taxis River; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her parents, husband, and an infant son Cecil, sisters Amy Dudley, Beatrice Spencer, Annie Spencer and Lillian Calhoun and brothers Hedley, Lloyd, Earl, Nelson, Charlie and Clair.
The family will receive condolences at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 from 2 to 4 P.M. and 7 to 9 P.M. A celebration of Bessie’s life will be held at Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, February 23 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. H.G. MacKenzie officiating. Interment in the Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, memorial contributions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
