It is with heavy hearts that the family of Veronica Mary Szabo, formally of Bezansons Lane, Glace Bay, passed away at her home in Montreal Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012.
Born in Montreal, Quebec, Dec. 28, 1936 and schooled at St. Ann’s, Glace Bay, Veronica left for Montreal in her teens for work.
Born to the late Carl and Anne Kelly of Bezansons Lane.
After school Veronica worked as a waitress, and at Cadegan’s Fish Plant in Glace Bay. After marriage she opened her hair salon and later on she took in older, disabled ladies and became their caretaker until her retirement. She loved to travel with her late husband Laslow Szabo to Hungary. She also enjoyed singing and playing cards.
She is survived by her brothers, Casimer, Toronto, Ron (Flo) Sydney, Joseph (Brenda), with whom she resided, Andrew (Rejeanne), Victoria Harbour, James (Margaret), Pickering, Ont., Terrance (Margaret), Glace Bay; sisters, Eileen Midland, Carol and Kathy, both of Toronto. She will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews and her two faithful companions, her dogs.
Predeceased by her parents and brother, Bernard and sister, Rita; sisters-in-law, Irene and Joan.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time.
Cremation has taken place, burial at a later date in Glace Bay.
