Passed in: Canada

ERNA BECKER December 20, 1926 - February 3, 2007 It is with great sadness that Erna's family announces her passing. Erna Becker, age 80, passed away, February 3, 2007 at Kamloops Hospice House in the presence of all her family and her devoted husband of sixty years, Ralph Gordon Becker. Erna was born December 20, 1926 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Ralph and Erna married October 11, 1946 after being introduced by Erna's best friend, Marj whom she started grade one with. After many years living in Vancouver and Erna working at Woodwards, Ralph and Erna moved to Kamloops in 1962. Shortly after moving to Kamloops, Erna started working at the Irving Clinic. Erna worked at the Irving Clinic until she retired. She enjoyed playing Bridge with her lady friends and spent many hours swimming in her backyard pool enjoying the view of Kamloops and the marigolds that edged the perimeter. Erna liked to golf with Ralph and was a fan of the morning talk show Regis and Kelly. The couple enjoyed traveling together and went on many cruises; their favourite ship was the Royal Princess. Erna was predeceased by her parents (Emil and Freda Woelke), her brother Jerry (Doris), sister Crystal (George), brother Emil and brothers in law Ted and Morley. Erna will be sadly missed by her loving husband, Ralph Becker, her daughter Donna Stewart (Gord) of Kamloops, sisters in law Joan (Saskatoon) and Lois (Edmonton), brother in law Del and numerous nieces and nephews. Erna leaves fond memories in the hearts of her grandson Bob (Shelley) of Richmond, granddaughters Carol (Ryan) of Kamloops, Jackie of Vancouver and son in law Bob Stewart of White Rock. Also left to cherish her memory are her four great grandchildren Spencer Scherrer-Stewart, Taiya and Blake Stewart and Payton Robb. The family is most grateful for the loving care Erna received at the Kamloops Hospice Home. We thank the staff and volunteers for their compassion and support. A special thanks to all the home support nurses at Interior Health Community Care Program for making her days at home more comfortable. Thanks to Susan, the receptionist at Dr. Simpson's office and a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Terry Simpson who has been the physician of generations in our family and for that, we thank him dearly. There's a little brown road windin' Over the hill, To a little white cot by the sea; There's a little green gate At whose trellis I wait, While two eyes o' blue Come smilin' through at me! There's a gray lock or two in the Brown of the hair There's some silver in mine, too, I see, But in all the long years When the clouds brought their tears, Those two eyes o' blue Kept smilin' through at me! And if ever I am left in this world all alone I shall wait for my call patiently; For if Heaven be kind, I will wake there to find Those two eyes o' blue Still smilin' through at me! There will be no service by request. A family celebration of Erna's life will be held at Hillside Cemetery at a later date. Should friends desire, donations to the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice Home, 72 Whiteshield Crescent South, Kamloops, B.C. V2E 2S9 in memory of Erna would be appreciated. We love you and will miss your blue eyes. Arrangements entrusted to Schoening Funeral Service, telephone 374-1454
