WILLIAM JOHNSTON
Bill Johnston passed away on February 22, 2012 in Moose Jaw Union Hospital following a short illness. Bill was born in Winnipeg, MB on January 14, 1936 and at the age of two he was adopted into a caring family in Rouleau, SK and it was here he grew up. He was predeceased by his adoptive parents, Stanley and Myrtle Johnston. Bill is survived by two sons, Derrick (Janelle), Lyndon (Katherine) and their mother Carole all of Kelowna, BC; sister Gaylene and her daughters Richelle and Michele of Edmonton, AB and Twila (Pius) of Surrey, BC. He will be missed and lovingly remembered forever by his wife of 35 years, Jean and daughters Joni (Dave) Leonard of Saskatoon and Jana Stensland of Assiniboia; grandchildren Britney and Daven Johnston, Crystal and Jayanna; great-grandson James Johnston all of Kelowna, Jeff and Jaime Leonard of Saskatoon and Sofie Stensland of Assiniboia. Bill’s career of 34 years was with SaskPower and SaskEnergy. His passion was his sports, with many years of involvement in hockey in Moose Jaw and Saskatchewan. A Celebration of Bill’s life will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel on Saturday February 25, 2012 at 1:30pm. Della Ferguson will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658, Moose Jaw, S6H 7K7 or a Charity of Choice. Special thanks to Providence Place staff for their care and support for the past sixteen months. Also thanks to the medical staff at the Union Hospital and Dr. Rinnisland. We will miss you Grandpa Willie. In living memory of Bill, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
