Frances 'Fran' Muise-MacKinnon, RN
Born In: Low Point, Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed in: New Waterford, Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed on: February 22nd, 2012
It is with heavy hearts and great sadness, that we announce the death of our mother, grandmother and sister, Fran Muise-MacKinnon on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, at her home. At the time of her passing, Fran was surrounded by her loving family. ‘Mom died as she lived, with peace, love and dignity’.
Born in Low Point, N.S., Mom was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mildred (Jessome) Ling.
A graduate of Holy Angels High and St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing, Glace Bay, Mom practised her nursing career in New Waterford for 38 years. Her kind, caring, selfless nature, provided comfort and peace to those she cared for and treated in time of need.
Mom loved her family. Her gentle loving nature taught us all to love and respect each other and never to judge others. The safe haven she provided for all of us in her little home allowed us to share laughter and tears. Her words of wisdom prepared us to go on without her in our journey of life. Mom loved the Lord and treated others as she would like to be treated and taught us all by her example. She enjoyed her weekly tarabish games with her close friends.
Fran is survived by her daughters, Paula MacIsaac (John), Ann Louise (Phil) Dade, Shelly (Billy) Petrie, Bernadine Chaulk (Terry); sons, Glen, Kevin (Pauline) and Bradley (Janet). Also surviving is Fran’s brother, Bob (Joanne) Ling; her grandchildren, Kris, Melissa (Steve Vines), Mark, Brendon, Ian, Kim, Andrew, Corey, Chris, Alanna, Tira, Cody, Matthew, Rebecca, Adam; great-granddaughter, Evaeh Faith; and many nieces and nephews.
Fran was predeceased by her first husband, Alex ‘Goonie’ Muise, second husband, Wilfred MacKinnon, her son, Charles ‘Chuck’ Muise, brothers, Bernie, Tom, Bill, sisters, Olive, Emily, Eileen, Agnes, Bertha, Hattie, and a stepsister, Dorothy.
Visitation will be held today (Friday) from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. The funeral mass, officiated by Rev. Jim Oliver is Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Leonard’s Church followed by interment in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
