Graham Dartt Campbell

Campbell, Graham Dartt, Truro, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, February 23, 2012 in the Colchester Regional Hospital Truro. The Campbell twins were born in Alton, Colchester County, on March 10, 1942, two months premature weighing less than three pounds each to the late Alvin E. and Vina (Dickson) Campbell. The family resided in Alton until moving into their new home in Brookfield in 1956. Graham was looking forward to attaining his “three score years and ten” in sixteen days. Graham enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved to recall his many good memories of the hunting camp in Eastville and the family times at the cottage at Lake Mush a Mush. He also enjoyed parties, dances and fiddle music. Graham retired from LaFarge Canada, Brookfield, with 33 years of services. He was Past Master of Masonic Lodge #43 and a former member of the Central Shrine (Philae Temple). He is survived by his wife Jane (MacLachlan); daughter Krista (Daniel) Poole, Bible Hill and their children Rebecca and Christopher; sons, Trevor (Tamara), Hortonville and their children Kyle, Courteney, Kalum and Connor; Colin (Allison), Truro and his daughter Sheridan; twin brother, Gordon (Carol), Brookfield; foster sisters, Patsy (Herb) McCallum and Betty (Randy) Roop both of Brookfield; stepchildren, Andrew Heffernan, Albany, NY; Annette Heffernan, Mississauga, ON; Amy (Jason) Muis and their daughter Lucy, Sheet Harbour, NS; mothers-in-law, Helen MacLachlan, Great Village and Margaret Arenburg, Parkland Estates; brother-in-law, David (Marlene) Arenburg, Bible Hill. Also surviving are aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. Graham was predeceased by his parents and his wife Judith (Arenburg) in 1991. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro, where Graham’s family will receive friends from 2~4 and 7~9pm on Monday, February 27. Funeral service will be held 2pm Tuesday, February 28, in the Knox United Church in Brookfield with Rev. Larry Harrison officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Family flowers only. Donations in Graham’s memory may be made to the Knox United Church in Brookfield or to the Nova Scotia Lung Association.
