Helen Bymoen

Born In: Admiral, Saskatchewan, Canada

Passed on: February 18th, 2012

1922 ~ BYMOEN ~ 2012 - Mrs. Helen Bymoen nee Moir of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Mr. Adren Bymoen, passed away on Saturday, February 18th, 2012 at the age of 89 years. Helen leaves to cherish her memory her children, Manfred (Heather) Bymoen and Yvonne (Roger) Sept, both of Medicine Hat; six grandchildren, Darryl Bellows of Surrey, BC, Wayde (Jodi) Bymoen of Calgary, Tracy Bymoen of Vancouver, BC, Justin Sept of Calgary, Jevon Sept and Jhor (Julie) Sept, both of Medicine Hat; two great-granddaughters, Addyson and Quinlan; her sister-in-law, Margaret Bymoen of Swift Current; and numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her husband, Adren “Eddy” Bymoen; an infant son, Myron; her parents, John and Mary Moir; four brothers, Willard, Donald, Norman, and Victor; two sisters, Isabelle and Hattie; as well as Eddy’s brothers and sisters. Helen was born near Admiral, Saskatchewan and grew up on the family farm. She attended Admiral School and completed her Grade XI there. On December 28th, 1944 she married Eddy Bymoen in Medicine Hat and they went to live in Vancouver for the remainder of that winter. Eddy may have stayed but Helen did not enjoy the cloudy, rainy days in Vancouver so in 1945 they began farming in the Simmie District. Helen was very active and involved with the farm as well as the community being an active member of the United Ladies Aide, the Curling Club, the Farmarette Club, and the Simmie and Swift Current Square Dance Clubs. She enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing, knitting, crocheting, playing cards, curling, square dancing and celebrating birthdays. Helen lived at the farm near Simmie and spent the winters in Swift Current until July 2001 when she bought a condo in Medicine Hat to be closer to her children and grandchildren. One of our fondest memories of mom was her good cooking and baking, especially the taste of homemade bread, buns and cinnamon buns. She usually timed the cinnamon buns to be ready for coffee time. Sincere thanks are extended to Medicine Hat Home Care and all the staff who cared for mom at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at FIRST UNITED CHURCH, 223 – 3rd Avenue NE, on Saturday from 12:00 to 12:55 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held in FIRST UNITED CHURCH on Saturday, March 10th, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Sharon Ferguson-Hood officiating. Interment will follow in the Family Plot at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Memorial gifts in Helen’s memory may be made to the Simmie Community Association, General Delivery, Simmie, Saskatchewan, S0N 2N0.
