LORENCE ARTHUR JAMES KLASSEN

Born In: Winkler, Manitoba, Canada
Born: August 6th, 1941

Passed in: Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada
Passed on: March 4th, 2012

Lorence passed away on March 4, 2012 with his family by his side. He was taken much too soon and will be greatly missed by his wife Brenda, sons Kevin (Cathy) and Darryl (Nicole), sister Anne (Frank), sister-in-law Urstla and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Abram and Annie Klassen, brother John and sister Lena.

Lorence was born in Winkler, Manitoba on August 6, 1941. Soon after leaving school he moved to Vancouver with Cam Gard Supply. After a few years of rain, he requested a transfer to Kamloops. It was here that he met Brenda and the two were married in 1974. In 1980 he was hired at Cariboo College (now TRU) in the trades department where he enjoyed working for 21 years. He, his wife, and sons had many great times camping, skiing, and spending time with extended family and friends. In the early 90's, Lorence and Brenda were "talked into" learning to square dance which was one of the best things that could have happened. They made many, many wonderful and dear friends with whom they shared many memorable trips and holidays. A highlight for Lorence and Brenda was their four month cross Canada trip in 2004. Since then they have made more great friends and enjoyed great camping trips with the Shuswap R.V. Club. Lorence loved spending time in his garden, woodworking, collecting hats, and sitting on the sundeck sharing a glass of wine with family and friends. He continued to be active in the community throughout his retirement; volunteering at Blazers games and driving the Cancer van to Kelowna. He also enjoyed golfing and curling; appreciating the comradery as much as the game. Lorence had a great sense of humour and loved to make people laugh. He was an amazing husband, father and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at the Kamloops Alliance Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
