Onabel Marie (Aalders) Doyle – 88, of North Alton, Kings County, passed away peacefully in the arms of her loving family on March 8, 2012. Onabel was born on May 7, 1923 in South Alton to the late Clinton and Emmeline (Russell) Aalders. Onabel is survived by Judy (James) Reid of New Minas; Faye (Kendall) Best of Prospect; Eric (Jeanie) Doyle of North Alton; Sharon (Dub) Millett of Canaan; Donna (Dan) Turner of Aldershot and Ivan (Janet) Doyle of North Alton. Onabel was also the treasured grandmother of Peter (Alison Fuller) Reid, Barry Reid, Crystal Best, Susan (Patrick) Foote, Gregory Doyle, Carrie (Sean) Veldhoven, Matthew and Evan Millett, Laura (Matt) McCulley, Gail (Keith) Aucoin, Murray (Angela) Turner, Heather and Michelle Turner, Daniel (Ashley) Turner and Rebecca Doyle. Onabel is also survived by sixteen great grandchildren; siblings, Bernard (Charlotte) Aalders of Dartmouth; Verna (Ross) Smith of Centreville; Laurie Aalders of South Alton; sisters-in-law, Jean, Joyce and Thelma; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband, John and infant son, Arthur. Onabel was also predeceased by brothers, Foster, Eugene and Oren Aalders and special nephew, Michael Crosby. Onabel’s passions included the love of her family and church. She was a lifelong member of St. James Anglican Church in Kentville. Onabel started the St. Margaret’s Guild with longtime friend, the late Hattie Dodge which led to the establishment of the North Alton branch of the Anglican Church. Through example, Onabel taught us all to take care of each other and always lend a helping hand. She also enjoyed knitting, embroidery, keeping her pantry well stocked with homemade treats and was always up for a good game of 45’s. The family would like to thank Dr. Lori Burgess, Dr. Don Seaman and the staff on the first floor of Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville, for the exceptional care. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2012 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2012 in St. James Anglican Church, Kentville, Reverend Catherine Desloges and Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. A private family burial will take place in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Kentville. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to Valley Regional Hospital - Palliative Care, St. James Anglican Church or Evergreen Home for Special Care.
