Allison Robert Gogan 67 years of Springhill, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at the Halifax Infirmary Hospital. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late James and Jean (Wilson) Gogan.
A beloved Springhiller, Al loved fishing and had been involved with the Minor Hockey Association and was well known at Heather Beach. During his working years he drove a candy truck and later worked at Springhill High School for many years as custodian.
He will be sadly missed by his companion, Frances Ward; a daughter Heather, Amherst; sons, John Stephen (Karen Fraser), Amherst and Robert (Ashley Bowden), Summerside, PEI; grandchildren, Matthews, Aaron, Nicole, Dylan, Maya, Trinity, Debbie, Kirsten and Christian; special family friend, Karen Barclay; his first wife, Mary Agnes Gogan Baird; brother, James W. (Maureen) Gogan, Woodburn, Pictou Co.; his dog Daisy; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his second wife the former Joan Hurley-Knight; sister, Marie Carlyle.
Arrangements have been entrusted to A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361). Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, March 16, 2012 followed immediately at 8:00 pm by a Funeral Service. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Al's memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Kidney Foundation; Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of choice.
