Beulah Estelle Smith

Beulah Smith of Moose Jaw, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2012. She was born in Mortlach, and raised on the family farm in Edgehill. She completed her schooling in Edgehill and Mortlach. After this time she attended Nurses training at the Moose Jaw Providence Hospital where she graduated in 1946 as Registered Nurse. Beulah worked in several small Saskatchewan hospitals. In 1958 she began working in Public Health in a number of small communities, ending in Moosomin. Following her mother’s passing in 1963 Beulah also took care of her special needs sister Phoebe and continued nursing up until her retirement in 1984 while in Moosomin. It was following her retirement that Beulah and her sister moved to Moose Jaw. Beulah lived in her home up until her passing. She took pride in her yard. She enjoyed her sports both participating in early years, and watching later on. She loved animals, especially her cat. She was and continued to be extremely involved with the Providence Hospital Nurses Alumni right up until her passing. Predeceased by her parents Edith and Robert, siblings Phoebe, Joyce, Allan and Howard, she is survived by niece and nephews, numerous cousins, friends and her beloved cat Lexi. In keeping with Beulah’s wishes, there will be no service. Interment will take place at the family plot at Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Humane Society, Box 1658, Moose Jaw, S6H 7K7, would be appreciated. In living memory of Beulah, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J.
