She was born in Birchtown, a daughter of the late Zenophen and Bessie (Rollison) Acker. Predeceased by her husband Joseph Acker; brothers Stan, Alfred (Thelma) and infant brother Avery. Minneva will be remembered with love by her family, Gladys Acker; God children, Darrell Acker, Birchtown, Carole Davis (George), Barrie, Ont., Irene Baker (Billy), Clark’s Harbour and Rose Miller (Thelbert), C.S.I. Minneva loved her family and friends and always enjoyed company. You never left her house hungry. She was an avid cook, quilter, knitter and gardener and in later years she loved the fine art of colouring and doing puzzles. She loved to teach young people, especially knitting and no matter how difficult the student she was always very patient and persistent. Minneva was very kind, quick-witted, loving person, never afraid to speak her mind. She enjoyed nature, car rides and summer adventures with her God-daughter, Carole where she spent six weeks yearly until the age of 90 in Ontario. In earlier years she worked as a cook, housekeeper and personal caregiver. Her life was long and meaningful. A bright light the earth has lost but will shine on for all that loved and knew Minnie. She had a special place in her heart for animals, especially cats. The funeral service was held on Saturday, March 24 in H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, with Reverend Norma Mitchell officiating. Interment was in Church of the Resurrection Cemetery, Churchover. Memorial donations may be made to PET Projects, Sandy Point. For the last 15 years her home was at Surf Lodge Nursing Home.
